Peaches and Cream Rolls

I think I’ve said it on here before- Cinnamon rolls? Not my favorite. Delicious? Absolutely. But that much Cinnamon? Ehhh… it’s not something I really crave.

But add in a fresh pop of peach in every bite of these rolls, and.. yes. We’re in business.

I developed this recipe last year, and I’m still really proud of it! It’s definitely off the beaten path but still has those familiar flavors of peach and brown sugar, mixed with a fluffy dough and everyone’s favorite- cream cheese frosting. Also, each roll is HUGE. you have been warned!

Check out this recipe below, and leave me a comment when you try it out! Don’t forget to pin for later use, and follow me on Instagram, for extra tips on being in the Kitchen. Happy baking!

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Active Yeast
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/3 cup Vegetable or Canola Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 1 tsp Maple Extract
  • 6-7 cups All-purpose Flour
  • 1/2 tbsp Salt
  • 2 lbs diced, peeled peaches
  • 3 cups Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 8oz Cream Cheese (softened)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted Butter (softened)
  • 2 tsp Vanilla
  • 2 1/2 cup Powdered Sugar

Instructions

  1. In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine 2 1/2 cups warm water, 1/3 cup of oil, 1 1/2 tbsp of yeast, and 1/2 cup of sugar, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, and 1 tsp of maple extract Once those are combined, add 1/2 tbsp of salt, then the flour, one cup at a time, until dough is no longer sticky.
  2. Turn onto a lightly floured countertop and knead for a couple minutes. Return to bowl, cover with greased plastic wrap, and allow to double in size in a warm environment.
  3. While it rises, make your filling. Chop your 2 lbs of peeled peaches into small portions.
  4. On medium heat, pour your chopped peaches, 3 cups of brown sugar, and 1/4 cup of water into a saucepan. Stir constantly until reduced down and thick, almost like a caramel sauce. This should take between 15-20 minutes. Watch carefully, and remember it will thicken a little as it cools.
  5. When the dough is doubled, punch it down and roll it out onto a lightly floured countertop, and then into a large, 11x17 rectangle.
  6. Spread the peach filling onto the dough, then roll it up tightly from the long side. Place in two 9x13 pans.
  7. Let it rise and double a second time in a warm environment, covered. This should take about 30 minutes. When it's done, preheat your oven to 375º and bake for 18-20 minutes, until golden brown on top.
  8. While it bakes, make your cream cheese frosting by combining 8oz of softened cream cheese, and 1/2 cup of softened butter with an electric mixer, until no chunks are left. Then add in and combine 2 tsp of vanilla and 2 1/2 cups of powdered sugar. Spread the frosting over the warm rolls, enjoy!
