7 Non-Traditional Thanksgiving Recipes

Thanksgiving is coming up, so it’s time to think about food! Now I know we all have our favorites, but I know we also all have those dishes that we just feel are ‘okay’. Enter these Non-traditional side dishes for your Thanksgiving table. I hope you find these helpful in planning out your upcoming feast!

First up is this Carrot Feta Salad. Skip your boring vegetable side dish and really brighten up your Thanksgiving table with these flavor-packed Carrots! Roasted Carrots and Red Onions pairs beautifully with Parsley, Crumbled Feta, and an Apple Cide Vinegar mixture. The flavors are unreal! You can find this recipe here.

Now I realize these are Hamburger buns, but I didn’t have a photo of these in ‘roll’ form. But my Sweet Potato Bun recipe makes the perfect rolls! While you’re boiling all those Sweet Potatoes for you casserole, throw in a couple extra to put in these rolls! The slight sweetness and softness that are provided by the Sweet Potato are truly one of a kind. Find that recipe here

This bread comes up a LOT, but it’s truly because it’s THAT delicious! This Italian Garlic Loaf is so soft and fluffy, while providing flavor as your obligatory carb side dish on Thanksgiving. These loaves are actually easier to make than rolls, since you just make one long loaf and slice it afterwards. I can guarantee your guests will ‘ooh’ and ‘ah’ over this bread- I know mine always do! You can find the recipe here.

And while we’re discussing my Italian Garlic Loaf, let’s talk about this savory jam that’s the only thing that could make your experience with this bread any better- this Bacon Tomato Jam. Made in your Instant Pot, this spread is a little sweet, a little savory, a little spicy… my mouth is watering as I write this, I truly love this one! In fact, make a batch to share with Family and Friends this Thanksgiving, then double it. Because you’re definitely going to want to experience this again and again! You can find the recipe here.

Is your assignment to bring a salad? Why not bring this Sweet Potato Kale Salad this year? Sure to be a hit, this salad has Sweet Potatoes (duh), Roasted Red Onions, Feta crumbles, candied nuts, quinoa, and a little-bit-of-everything-delicious vinaigrette. It’s perfect for making ahead and letting it sit for a few hours to really soften up that Kale and letting all those flavors soak in. You can find that recipe here.

If you’re drooling a little bit while looking at this Cheesecake, congratulations- you’re not blind! But seriously. Let’s take a little trip from your average pie and make this Caramel Apple Cheesecake instead! It’s made in your Instant Pot, and is perfect for making the night before Thanksgiving. You can find that recipe here.

And last, but certainly not least, these Rosemary Sea Salt Rolls. These could definitely be made into more traditional rolls by taking off the Rosemary and Sea Salt topping, but I love the departure from normal flavors with this fluffy, flavorful bread. You can find the recipe here.
